Terminal

Frieda, a middle-aged woman, travels with her father, Oliver, on an Amtrak train on what will be their final trip together. Amtrak is ending its passenger service, and she mourns this and other losses in her and her father’s lives. Most of the action takes place just shy of the destination’s terminal, when the train is delayed because a man has committed suicide by jumping into the train’s path. By the time they finally reach the terminal, Frieda and Oliver have reached a common understanding about what is troubling her and she leaves the train feeling a modicum more at peace.
